Lupines & Poppies

Last week we accidentally stumbled upon fields of Lupines and Poppies near Los Olivos in the Los Padres National Park. We had to go back. And today we did. The pictures below are untouched by iphoto. The acres and acres of purple and orange were just as you seen them, maybe even brighter!

Those lupines sure look like Texas Bluebonnets. Thanks to Ladybird Johnson, the freeways of Texas are lined with them and this time of year it;s very like your photos. THere are no California poppies, which I miss, but there are "Indian paintbrushes" that are very similar in color.
