We are celebrating Pentecost early this year. In the preaching/worship series on the Holy Spirit, we have gone from Resurrection, to chapter 1 of Acts (waiting and praying) and now into chapter 2 of the filling of the Holy Spirit.
What a fun word: fill. It is so ubiquitous. We use fill for all sorts of things and concepts every day; from gas tanks to application forms. We use fill as an active verb; something we do. We use fill passively; as when something happens to us and we get filled with anger, fear, sadness. We are experts in filling. So what does it mean when God fills us? Where are we active participants and where are we passive recipients? How do you cooperate with God's filling of you with his Spirit?
